Development effort vs. changing to bookkeeping software

I do not want to ruin the party but I wonder if it is worth to further specialize our book keeping at OSEG. On the long run we hopefully will be able to hire a professional to do our book keeping. This person will likely want to use a standard book keeping software, I assume. Therefore a few questions arise for me:

How much time is it worth to invest in a system that will be abolished at some point? Will the development lead to more or less people being able to use the system in the pure book keeping sense? Will it take a lot of effort to updated or change it? Who will be able to do it?

Just asking if you are keen to do some programming go ahead but if time is sparse we should discuss it. @moedn and @hoijui
